Get Involved

The Tobacco Free Alliance of Virginia (TFAV) brings together organizations and individuals committed to improving the health of all Virginians through tobacco prevention, cessation, and policy change.


As Virginia's statewide tobacco control coalition, our members collaborate, share expertise, and advocate for evidence-based policies that create healthier communities across the Commonwealth. Whether you work in public health, health care, education, government, research, community organizations, or simply care about improving health outcomes, there's a place for you in TFAV.

Ways to Participate

As a member, we highly recommend attending TFAV's quarterly meetings, held on the second Tuesday of March, June, September, and December from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Members are also encouraged to participate in one or more committees based on their interests and expertise. Our committees s
upport the mission and goals of the TFAV strategic plan and meet monthly.

Legislative Committee

  • Monitors tobacco-related legislation, recommend advocacy priorities, and help educate policymakers and communities during the General Assembly and throughout the year.

Membership Committee

  • Helps strengthen and grow the Alliance by supporting member recruitment, engagement, and retention while helping shape TFAV's future.

  • Assesses and recommends programs and services that will add value to the membership.

Classroom Discussion

Communications Committee

  • Supports member communications by sharing timely updates, news, and tobacco control resources throughout the year. 

  • Keeps members informed of chances to take action or advocate for policy or goals.  

  • Supports and maintains TFAV website, social media accounts, and technology requirements.
